Behavioral Health Choices Program
On February 1, 1997, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare (DPW) implemented a new program for Pennsylvanians enrolled in the Medical Assistance (MA) program. The program, called HealthChoices, requires Medicaid recipients to enroll in managed care plans for Physical Health and Behavioral Health services.

The Health Care Financing Administration is now the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS provides health insurance for over 74 million Americans through Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP.
Brief Summaries of Medicare & Medicaid
Congress passed legislation in 1965 establishing the Medicare and the Medicaid programs as Title XVIII and Title XIX of the Social Security Act. In 1977, the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) was established under the Department of Health and Human Services to administer the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Regional Mental Health Services Coordination
Office
The Regional Mental Health Services Coordination Office serves as the central contact for regional
specialty services. As regional specialty services develop, they are managed by a single office,
which oversees the service development and implementation on behalf of the five counties of Southeastern
Pennsylvania.
Parents Involved Network (PIN)
PIN is an organization that assists parents or caregivers
of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. PIN
provides information, helps parents find services and will advocate on their
behalf with any of the public systems that serve children. These include the
mental health system, education, and other state and local child-serving
agencies.

Inc.) is a federally funded, nonprofit agency responsible for providing

The Behavioral Health Training and Education Network (BHTEN)
BHTEN supports the Behavioral Health System by coordinating and providing quality learning experiences for all members of the system including consumers, family members, behavioral health providers, and the respective staffs of OMH, OAS, and CBH.
