CBH's relaxed edit on the Submitter ID
data element NM109 allows providers to use either their PROMISe ID
or their tax identification numbers. Please continue to follow the
CBH Companion Guides and the National Implementations Guides for
other data in file submission.
Providers whose files failed due to incorrect data in the Submitter
ID data element, must resubmit those files so that they can be
reprocessed. |
|
|
|
|
Files submitted between 5/14 and 5/24,
2004, which moved successfully through HIPAA EDI system are
currently being processed in the CBH claims adjudication system.
Files submitted after 5/24 are in queue to be processed through CBH
HIPAA EDI system. CBH expects to move these files through HIPAA
processing beginning 6/1. Providers will not receive TA1 and /or 997
responses for these files until they are processed through the HIPAA
EDI system. |

CBH has ceased enforcement of the edit
on submitter ID in the NMI segment. |

The CBH Companion Guides for the
837P and 837I incorporate comments
from the
State Companion Guide

These are the
incorrect instructions |
837 Professional

Page 16 Billing Provider
Secondary Identification reads:
• Data Element REF02 must contain the
provider information. • Data Element REF02 will be in ‘TTPPPPPPP’ format, where: TT is the
two-digit Provider Type. PPPPPPP is the seven-digit Provider MAID Number. • For the 837 Institutional Inpatient claims, the two-digit Provider

|
This is what you
should do instead |
|
For Data Element
REF02 use your
PROMISe™
ID number found on your Schedule A. |
|
|
|
|
|
This will be corrected in the next
revision of the CBH Companion Guides. |

Schedule As are now available through the EDI
Browser
|
|
|
|
Since using incorrect billing codes is
one of the most frequent claims submission errors, we strongly
encourage you to refer to your most recent Schedule A. Copies of the most current version will
always be available through the EDI Browser interface.
|
|
|
|
The Schedule As
from the EDI Browser are in Adobe PDF format.
To view and print these
files, you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. For
more information, see our help page |
